Breaking: 4-Star Bellamy Signs with YSU PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 24 February 2010 14:58
From the Youngstown Vindicator:
Three weeks after signing day, YSU coach Eric Wolford has added another top recruit.

Running back Adaris Bellamy, who signed with the University of South Florida in 2009 but was told last month there was no longer a scholarship available to him with the Bulls, will sign today with the Penguins, the St. Petersburg Times reported.

Bellamy spent last fall at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy, which is the same school former Ursuline High standout Jamel Turner is attending. Turner signed with Ohio State earlier this month.

This is what we know about Bellamy: Rivals rates him as a 4-Star RB, while Scout ranks him as a 3-Star RB. In addition to his scholarship offer to South Florida, he was also offered by Clemson, Mississippi, and Iowa State. Earlier this month, his high school head coach at Dunedin (FL), Mark Everett, said that Bellamy was going to sign for the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Without a doubt, this is the biggest signing of the YSU 2010 class, and one of the biggest signings at the FCS level.

Breaking: Allen Jones is a Penguin PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 04 January 2010 20:31
jonesUrsuline High School star running back Allen Jones announced on his Facebook page this evening that he will be a YSU Penguin in 2010. This is the first commitment for new YSU Head Coach Eric Wolford.

Jones has been a three year starter for Ursuline High School, guiding the Irish to three consecutive appearances in the OHSAA Division V State Championship Game, including state titles the last two years. Allen Jones has rushed for over 4,300 yards in his career, which makes him the all-time leading rusher in Ursuline High School history. Anyone that knows anything about Ursuline knows that is a major accomplishment, because they have historically been a big running school.

Allen Jones Get's Offer from YSU PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 December 2009 17:50
allen jonesThrough out friends over at ScoutingOhio.com, we have confirmed that Ursuline High School running back Allen Jones received a scholarship offer from Eric Wolford in a meeting this morning with Eric Wolford at Ursuline. We have a very strong belief that this is the first recruit Eric Wolford has met with as head coach.

As we all know, YSU is losing their top three running backs to graduation, so there is a real possibility that Allen Jones could get some serious playing time as a freshmen with the Penguins next season. In a Scout.com article, he said he is interested in running out of a spread offense, similar to what Ursuline runs, which is exactly what Eric Wolford stated he would be running during his press conference yesterday.
